So a required element of teamwork is allowing those resources to go to whoever can get the most benefit from it. Look especially at the first one: you collect resources (gold? XP?) to upgrade your champ through the game, but whoever gets it keeps it (with some exceptions). Here's a list of LOL features that make me avoid playing that game. so I guess it is an awkward situation for Blizzard to start with. I know many people who won't try HOTS cause it is 'a copy cat with no lore'.

Meanwhile, if HOTS can come up with more lore and story, that be great. The last reason was the main reason I left LOL (i play less than 1 game a week there now), there are SOOOOOOoo many trolls, unless you get some solid friends to queue with, DONT BOTHER, you will hate your life choice soon otherwise. Personal skill level matters A LOT, work both ways, you get 1 troll player, that's 40+mins of your life wasted. More material and lore this moment, which HOTS seriously lacks. More global spotlight, though HOTS is showing up too. Shared resources, makes the community much less toxic. Team levels, therefore easier to carry games.

Usable heroes, LOLs has twice as much, but 10% are 'useless'. I am a relatively new player in HOTS (from LOL), I will try not to be biased.
